Original author’s interpretation summary
First-line Si Fire Officials/Ghosts and top-line Wei Earth Parents both change. Wei Earth changes to Xu Earth, an advancing pair. First-line Si Fire changing to Yin Wood is not a same-phase advance/retreat pair; the author explains it separately through five-phase relations.
Outcome reported in the book
The text records publication of results on Wu-Yin and the candidate placing eighth. Examination, rank and date are the author’s retrospective statements, without an independent list or personal records for site verification.
Site review boundaries
- Old yang at line one and old yin at line six change Dui to Song, matching the text.
- Only top-line Wei-to-Xu matches a fixed advancing pair. First-line Si-to-Yin must not inherit an advance marker merely because another line in the same hexagram advances.
- Passing and rank are source reports only, not predictions of modern examination success or guidance for study decisions.
Reading boundaries
Reported outcomes represent the original author’s account, not independent historical verification. This case is not an automatic interpretation template for a user’s present result.
Topic tags identify structures involved in this case, not divinatory efficacy verified by the site.
Working translation of the site’s Chinese editorial case review, not a translation of the classical source. Native-language review is pending; original source names and locators remain in Chinese.
Advancing branches
Fixed branch-pair implementation
The site calculates the seven advancing branch changes explicitly listed in Zengshan Buyi and cross-checks them against examples in Bushi Zhengzong. Yilin Buyi also records forward changes such as Hai to Zi and Yin to Mao, but its terminology is not entirely identical.
A marker requires an actual changing line whose original and changed branches match a fixed pair. An advancing branch does not guarantee progress in an undertaking.
Ten-day-cycle void
Structural implementation
The day’s ten-day cycle determines two void branches. Both works discuss further conditions involving phase strength, changing or unchanging lines, and clashes that fill the void. This site calculates only the day pillar’s cycle and void branches and lists the relevant line positions; it does not apply subsequent judgments such as being void yet not void.
Cycle void is a calendrical structure, not a statement that an undertaking is ineffective. It does not automatically determine outcomes or timing.
