Original author’s interpretation summary

The author reads this hexagram together with the first. The Zi Water Wife / wealth line is hidden beneath line five’s Wei Earth. This hidden line is void and controlled by the visible Earth line. The second casting is treated as supplementing the uncertainty in the first.

Outcome reported in the book

The text judges the two castings together as obtaining no wealth and reports that nothing was later obtained. This is the author’s account of two consecutive questions; the site has no external evidence to verify it.

Site review boundaries

  1. Old yang at line four changes Kui to Sun, matching the text.
  2. Yi-Mao has the same Zi–Chou void as the first casting. The book focuses on hidden Zi Water, so the six visible original lines alone are insufficient.
  3. This entry must be presented with the first casting in its series. Removing the earlier hexagram would misrepresent it as a single judgment.

Reading boundaries

Reported outcomes represent the original author’s account, not independent historical verification. This case is not an automatic interpretation template for a user’s present result.

Topic tags identify structures involved in this case, not divinatory efficacy verified by the site.

Working translation of the site’s Chinese editorial case review, not a translation of the classical source. Native-language review is pending; original source names and locators remain in Chinese.

Ten-day-cycle void

Structural implementation

The day’s ten-day cycle determines two void branches. Both works discuss further conditions involving phase strength, changing or unchanging lines, and clashes that fill the void. This site calculates only the day pillar’s cycle and void branches and lists the relevant line positions; it does not apply subsequent judgments such as being void yet not void.

Cycle void is a calendrical structure, not a statement that an undertaking is ineffective. It does not automatically determine outcomes or timing.

Hidden lines

Limited implementation

The site follows Bushi Zhengzong: search for a hidden line only when a Six Relations category is entirely absent from the original hexagram, taking the matching position in the pure hexagram of its palace. Yilin Buyi instead uses a yin–yang interchange system in which every line has hidden and visible counterparts; that is a separate method.

The adopted convention must be stated. The two systems’ hidden-line positions must not be combined, and their generating or controlling relations do not automatically produce fortune judgments.
