Original author’s interpretation summary
The author notes that the Zi month and Hai day both generate the host-position line through Wealth, and the host- and response-position lines also have a generating relation. Yet the Yin Wood line at the host position is void in Xin-Hai’s cycle. The first hexagram alone is not used to decide whether to travel; the unresolved question is recorded as requiring another casting.
Outcome reported in the book
There is no separate reported outcome for the first casting. The text immediately records Mingyi changing to Feng for the same matter, and the two entries must be read together.
Site review boundaries
- This is static Mountain-over-Heaven Daxu, without changing lines or a resulting hexagram.
- Xin-Hai belongs to the Jia-Chen cycle, with Yin and Mao void. The Yin Wood line at the host position is within the void branches.
- Repeated casting is the book’s historical way of handling uncertainty. The site instead retains one matter per casting and complete records, without encouraging repetition to seek a satisfactory result.
Reading boundaries
Reported outcomes represent the original author’s account, not independent historical verification. This case is not an automatic interpretation template for a user’s present result.
Topic tags identify structures involved in this case, not divinatory efficacy verified by the site.
Working translation of the site’s Chinese editorial case review, not a translation of the classical source. Native-language review is pending; original source names and locators remain in Chinese.
Ten-day-cycle void
Structural implementation
The day’s ten-day cycle determines two void branches. Both works discuss further conditions involving phase strength, changing or unchanging lines, and clashes that fill the void. This site calculates only the day pillar’s cycle and void branches and lists the relevant line positions; it does not apply subsequent judgments such as being void yet not void.
Cycle void is a calendrical structure, not a statement that an undertaking is ineffective. It does not automatically determine outcomes or timing.
Month and day branches
Calendrical structure implementation
The month reference uses the branch of the solar-term month; the day reference uses the day branch for the selected time-zone date. Zengshan Buyi and Yilin Buyi both use these references in subsequent discussions of strength, generation, control, clashes and combinations. The site calculates them with its calendar engine and cross-checks the month and day recorded in each case.
Month and day are chart references, not independent fortune judgments. A classical case without a year cannot identify a unique Gregorian date.
