Original author’s interpretation summary
The author first takes the host-position line, Mao Wood in the Officials/Ghosts category matching the month reference, as a condition for progress. The three matching-position clashes in the inner trigram are then called fanfu. Separately, the changing host-position line changes to You Metal, producing a returning clash and control against its original Mao Wood.
Outcome reported in the book
The text records that the person initially declined to go, later accompanied the official, and was subsequently killed when the city fell. This is the author’s report; the site cannot independently verify the person, chronology or event details.
Site review boundaries
- Lines two and three are old yin. Recalculation changes Bi to Jing, matching the text.
- The inner-trigram branches Wei, Si and Mao change to Chou, Hai and You. Each matching pair clashes. The site records inner-trigram branch fanyin, without conflating it with opposite-trigram fanyin.
- The reported death is retained only to examine the author’s use of rules. It must not become a modern personal-safety prediction.
Reading boundaries
Reported outcomes represent the original author’s account, not independent historical verification. This case is not an automatic interpretation template for a user’s present result.
Topic tags identify structures involved in this case, not divinatory efficacy verified by the site.
Working translation of the site’s Chinese editorial case review, not a translation of the classical source. Native-language review is pending; original source names and locators remain in Chinese.
Fanyin
Limited implementation
Fanyin is reported separately for inner and outer trigrams at two levels: opposite trigram positions and clashes between branches at matching line positions. Zengshan Buyi provides changing-line cases; Yilin Buyi also distinguishes trigram and line forms, but their classification boundaries are not entirely identical.
The site calculates this only when original changing lines and a resulting hexagram are available. A hexagram name or static direction alone cannot generate fanyin.
Return generation / control
Five-phase relation implementation
Returning generation and control compare only the changed phase acting back on the original phase of an actual changing line: the changed line generates or controls the original line. The site does not invent additional names for same-phase, draining or consuming relations, or for the original line acting on the changed line.
These names describe direction only. They do not independently determine the author’s reported outcome and are not converted into scores.
