Original author’s interpretation summary
The author centers the judgment on Yin Wood in the Officials/Ghosts category occupying the host position and matching the month reference. The Shen–Zi–Chen Water trine formed through changes at lines one and three is treated as supporting the official line. This case illustrates the distinction between three branches already present in the chart and activation through changes at those two positions.
Outcome reported in the book
The text records promotion to prefect in Yunnan in the third month. Rank, month and location are retrospective statements in the book, not historical facts independently established by the site.
Site review boundaries
- Old yin at line one and old yang at line three change. Recalculation from Gen yields Yi, matching the text’s hexagram names.
- The original line branches already contain Shen, Zi and Chen: structural completeness. Changes at lines one and three also meet the site’s inner-trigram activation condition involving both the first and third lines. Both levels must be retained.
- The author’s further associations with month, rank and direction belong to the interpretation process and are not inserted into a general algorithm.
Reading boundaries
Reported outcomes represent the original author’s account, not independent historical verification. This case is not an automatic interpretation template for a user’s present result.
Topic tags identify structures involved in this case, not divinatory efficacy verified by the site.
Working translation of the site’s Chinese editorial case review, not a translation of the classical source. Native-language review is pending; original source names and locators remain in Chinese.
Month and day branches
Calendrical structure implementation
The month reference uses the branch of the solar-term month; the day reference uses the day branch for the selected time-zone date. Zengshan Buyi and Yilin Buyi both use these references in subsequent discussions of strength, generation, control, clashes and combinations. The site calculates them with its calendar engine and cross-checks the month and day recorded in each case.
Month and day are chart references, not independent fortune judgments. A classical case without a year cannot identify a unique Gregorian date.
Trines
Two-level implementation
Zengshan Buyi lists activation patterns involving three moving branches, two moving and one static branch, and completion through changes in the inner or outer trigram. Yilin Buyi also discusses a partial combination missing one branch. This site treats three branches present in the original hexagram as a chart structure, then checks activation separately against the approved conditions.
A missing branch supplied by the month or day is reference information only, not an activated trine. No phase transformation, fortune judgment or predicted timing is generated automatically.
